Job Description
Healthcare Facility is seeking a  DENTAL HYGIENIST/ DH.

* LOCATED 
in Syracuse, NY.

* COMPENSATION $25.00 to $35.00 per hour BOE.

* JOB TYPE is Temporary to Permanent Employee, part-time.

* WORK SCHEDULE is Monday 8am to 2pm, Thursday and Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm. Approximately 23 hours per week. Will consider a reasonably flexible schedule on all said days.

* LICENSE and EDUCATION required is a application for or possession of a New York State license
.  Must have successfully completed an accredited and approved program. NEW GRADUATES are encouraged to apply.
 
* JOB DESCRIPTION: (Under the GENERAL supervision of a licensed Dentist in accordance with section 6606 of the Education Law of NYS).
* Removing calcareous deposits, accretions and stains, including scaling and planing of exposed root surfaces indicated for a complete prophylaxis;
* Applying topical agents indicated for a complete dental prophylaxis;
* Removing excess cement from surfaces of the teeth;
* Providing patient education;
* Placing and exposing X-ray films;
* Performing topical anticariogenic agent applications, including but not limited to topical fluoride applications, and performing topical anesthetic applications;
* Polishing teeth, including existing restorations;
* Taking medical history including the measuring and recording of vital signs;
* Charting caries and periodontal conditions as an aid to diagnosis by the dentist;
* Applying pit and fissure sealants; and
* Applying desensitizing agents to the teeth.
THE FOLLOWING SERVICES to be performed only under DIRECT supervision of a licensed dentist:
* Placing or removing rubber dam;
* Removing sutures;
* Taking impressions for study casts. Study casts shall mean only such casts as will be used for purposes of diagnosis and treatment planning by the dentist and for the purposes of patient education;
* Placing or removing matrix bands;
* Applying a topical medication not related to a complete dental prophylaxis;
* Placing and removing temporary restorations. Temporary restorations shall include only nonmetallic substances generally used for temporary intra coronal filling materials. Placing and removing temporary restorations shall not include cutting or excising hard or soft tissue or the use of mechanical instrumentation;
* Placing and removing periodontal dressings;
* Selecting and pre fitting provisional crowns;
* Selecting and pre fitting orthodontic bands;
* Removing orthodontic arch wires and ligature ties;
* Taking impressions for space maintainers, orthodontic appliances, and occlusal guards.
* Placing and removing temporary separating devices; and
* Placing orthodontic ligatures.
