Job Description
Outpatient Physical Therapy Office is seeking a PTA / Physical Therapy Assistant / Outpatient Orthopedic.

* COMPENSATION ranges from $14.00 to $19.00 per hour BOE.

* JOB TYPE is TEMPORARY Employee, Full-time.

* DURATION (approximate):  01/11/10 through 04/15/10.

* WORK SCHEDULE and WORK LOAD:  Days, Monday through Friday only. Will be required to work two days per week until 6pm. End at 4pm on Friday. Manual therapy for outpatient orthopedic patients. Total knee, total hip, etc. Experience in TMJ, carpal tunnel helpful. Seven (7) individual treatment rooms. Twenty (20) minute patient schedules, up to one hour for new patients.

* LICENSE and EDUCATION AS/PT. NY PTA license.

* JOB DESCRIPTION:
Administer physical therapy treatments to patients, working under the direction of and as assistant to a Physical Therapist, by performing the following duties:
1.) Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
2.) Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain.
3.) Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
4.) Observe patients during treatments and compile and evaluate data on patients responses to treatments and progress and reports orally or in writing to Physical Therapist.
5.) Fit patients for, adjust, and train patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
6.) Confer with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
7.) Give orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and direct and give instructions to Physical Therapy Aides.
8.) Perform clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
9.) Measure patients range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
10.) Monitor treatments administered by Physical Therapy Aides.
